Privacy Policy

ShrinkPic for Android · Effective date: 13 October 2026

Language: English · Deutsche Version

ShrinkPic processes selected images on your device and does not upload image files. No account or login is required. The app displays Google AdMob banner ads; ad delivery requires internet and may process device and ad-related data as described below.

Controller and contact

ShrinkPic is provided by Sangeeth Jeyakumar (VATZA), Switzerland. For privacy questions, contact info@vatza.duckdns.org. Further details are available in the legal notice.

Selected images and on-device processing

You select images through Android's photo picker. ShrinkPic processes only the images you choose. Compression, resizing, format conversion, and optional metadata removal happen on your device. The app does not operate a server for this processing and does not transmit image files to VATZA.

ShrinkPic temporarily writes processed output files to its private app cache. Android may remove cached output; missing output can require reprocessing. Basic compression creates copies and does not overwrite originals. Separately selected optimization, archive/move and cleanup operations can replace or delete originals only after their specific confirmation flows.

Permissions

You can use Android's system image picker or grant access to a specific folder through the folder picker. The optional photo-library scan requests the Android image-reading permission and operates on the scope you grant. On Android 9 or earlier, saving may require shared-storage write permission. Creating exact original backups may request access to image location metadata. Notification permission enables background progress messages. ShrinkPic uses foreground services for user-initiated processing, saving, backup and restoration. You can deny optional permissions; the corresponding feature may then be unavailable.

Saving, metadata, and sharing

An optimized image is saved to “Pictures/ShrinkPic” only when you choose “Save” in the app. Saved images remain there until you delete them from your device.

Metadata removal is optional. If you leave it off, supported image metadata—such as capture date, camera information, or GPS details—may be copied into the new file. When you share an image, ShrinkPic opens Android's share sheet and grants the app you choose temporary access to that file. That app's privacy terms apply to its subsequent handling.

Preferences and history stored locally

ShrinkPic stores preferences, statistics, local file names/URIs, sizes, checksums, compression settings, progress receipts and backup/restoration records privately on the device. Confirmed folder cleanup also stores local deletion receipts: confirmation, selected file identifiers, checksums and outcomes. The database and receipts do not duplicate original image binaries. Processed outputs may remain in private cache pending saving; ZIP backups are stored where you choose. These local records are not sent to VATZA. Clearing history summaries does not necessarily remove resumable sessions or safety receipts. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes internal records, temporary files and the archive identity key; this may affect trusted restoration and copy recognition. Keep your ZIP files, required folder access and installation until restoration is finished.

Folder cleanup and risk of data loss

Where folder cleanup is available, you choose a folder, review a file snapshot and explicitly select originals. Subfolders are opt-in. Recognized ShrinkPic copies and non-image files are kept. Protection uses folder/name markers and this installation's output checksums; renamed copies from other apps or old installations may not be recognized. Check the selection yourself.

The selected trusted original ZIP is checked before backed-up deletion. Deleting originals without a verified backup requires a separate override, acknowledgement of permanent-loss risk, an exact confirmation word and a ten-second wait. Deletion may be irreversible and a recycle bin is not guaranteed. Compressed copies are not a backup of original quality. Changed files are skipped; destructive operations do not restart automatically after interruption. Third-party apps and storage providers can change files or backups concurrently, so no absolute safety or guaranteed recovery is promised. This notice does not waive mandatory legal rights or liability.

Internet access, advertising, and third parties

Image selection, compression, resizing, format conversion, and metadata removal happen locally and work without an internet connection. ShrinkPic does not send selected image files or image contents to AdMob or VATZA. Internet access is used to request and display the banner ads.

ShrinkPic integrates Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). When ads are requested, Google Mobile Ads may automatically collect and share the device's IP address (which can be used to estimate general location), app/ad interactions such as launches and taps, diagnostic information about app and SDK performance, and device or account identifiers such as the Android Advertising ID and App Set ID. Google describes these data uses as advertising, measurement/analytics, diagnostics, and fraud prevention. Data is encrypted in transit by the SDK. The Android Advertising ID can be reset or deleted in Android settings. Depending on your region and available consent form, advertising partners involved in serving an ad may also process data under their own privacy notices. ShrinkPic does not add image content to ad requests.

UMP requests and stores the consent status needed to determine whether ads may be requested and, where required, presents a consent form and an in-app privacy-options form. If you do not consent where consent is required, personalized ads are not requested based on that missing consent; ad availability may be limited. Google Play processes information related to app downloads and updates under its own privacy terms. If you open this policy in a browser, the website processes technical connection data; see the VATZA website privacy policy.

Your choices and policy updates

Where the UMP privacy-options entry is required, open ShrinkPic's Privacy screen and choose “Advertising privacy choices” to review or change available consent choices. You can also reset or delete the Android Advertising ID in Android settings and manage Google's ad-personalization controls at My Ad Center. These controls do not remove the banner or necessarily stop all non-personalized ads. You can delete locally stored preferences and history through the app or Android app settings. VATZA cannot view or remotely delete data held only on your device or in apps you choose. For questions or requests, contact info@vatza.duckdns.org. See also Google's Privacy Policy.

This policy will be updated if the app or its data processing changes. The version published here is the current one.
